The bustle of summer in Tupelo continues this week as we welcome visitors for sports tournaments as well as community activities. On Tuesday, July 24, neighborhoods across Tupelo will celebrate Tupelo Night Out. Saturday, July 28, beginning at 10 a.m. - The Tupelo Film Alliance welcomes Bill Luckett, entertainment attorney, from Clarksdale, MS who will present Filmmaking in MS “Nuts & Bolts.” The meeting will take place at the Tupelo Convention & Visitors Bureau and is a free event, open to the public. Please let us know if you plan to attend by calling 800-533-0611. In addition to filmmaking; softball, golf, ultimate, baseball, and running events are also occuring this weekend. The ASA Junior Olympic Girls Slowpitch National Tournament will be held at Veterans Park, the Mississippi PGA Tournament will be held at the Tupelo Country Club, the Midnight Ultimate Challenge will be held at Ballard Park, the Senior Legion State Tournament will be held at the THS Baseball Field, and the Nightcrawler 5K will be held at Ballard (July 27). Need to finish (or start) on back-to-school clothes shopping? Mississippi Tax-Free Weekend is this weekend, July 27-28. Coming up are the August Movies in the Park - King Creole at Fairpark on August 2, Down on Main - Marty Stuart and Eden Brent at Fairpark on August 9, and Elvis Week activities in early August.
